How To Measure A Computer Screen

Place your laptop on top of “A” and use “B” as a guide to mark where your laptop’s lower left corner is located. Once you’ve marked it, lift your laptop and line up “B,” where your laptop’s lower left corner was originally located.

Use a marker to make an indention at this point. Now line up “A” with what was previously marked as “B” and make an indention again at this point.

Make sure that the line on the level is horizontal and parallel to the floor. If the tilt of your monitor is less than 5 degrees, you don’t need to do anything else. However, you must adjust your settings if the tilt exceeds 5 degrees. 

If you are using a laptop, press down on one corner of the screen with your thumb while keeping your fingers away from moving parts. Use a plastic pen or pencil to make a pencil mark on one corner of your screen and then release pressure with your thumb.

Compare this mark to the one on your level and adjust as necessary using screws or pivot points near each corner of most laptops.

When using a desktop, place the level on an angle so that one end rests on your desktop and the other is against the edge of the monitor. Make sure that the line on the level is horizontal and parallel to the floor.

If your screen tilt is less than 5 degrees, you don’t need to adjust anything. However, you must adjust your settings if the tilt exceeds 5 degrees.

  • To adjust screen tilt on a desktop:
  • Locate screws or pivot points near each corner of your monitor. 
  • Use a Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew or pivot each screw or pivot point until the desired tilt is achieved (see illustration below). 
  • Replace screws or pivot points if necessary. 
  • Test your new screen tilt by positioning a book or object at an angle and viewing it directly in front of your monitor. 
  • Adjust as necessary to achieve an optimal viewing angle.

Steps for Measuring Screen Distortion

You can take a few simple steps to measure screen distortion on your computer. 

First, open the Display Properties window by clicking on the “Windows” button on your keyboard and selecting “Display Properties.” In the Display Properties window, under the “Screen Resolution” heading, click on the “Properties” button. 

Now in the properties window that pops up, select the “Screen Distortion” tab, and you will see a graph that displays how distorted your screen is. If you have a laptop, you can also select the “Motion Blur” tab, which will show you how much motion blur is on your screen. 

You can use these measurements to determine if there is any need for corrective action, such as adjusting your display settings or replacing your screen.

You can take a few simple steps to measure screen distortion on your computer. The most important thing is to identify the location of the distortion accurately. Once you know where it is, you can use one of the following methods to measure it:

  • Method 1: Use A Ruler To Measure The Distance Between Two Points On Your Screen
  • Method 2: Use A Camera To Take Pictures Of The Screen. From Different Angles 
  • Method 3: Use A Screen Distortion Meter
